Legal Advisor, Aberdeen (AC09323)

Leading Oil and Gas Operator require a Legal Advisor to join their business in this stand-alone role. You will be responsible for a wide range of upstream oil and gas matters and will enjoy significant autonomy in this role. Attractive salary and benefits package on offer.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • To manage a range of legal and commercial matters across the business.
  • Assume a key role in the management of future acquisitions and divestments, including the drafting and negotiating of Sale and Purchase Agreements and farm out agreements.
  • Review, negotiate and draft a range of upstream oil and gas agreements.
  • Assist with the management of the UKCS assets.
  • Process 3rd Party transfer documentation.
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer with development/projects work and drafting and negotiating of all associated documentation.
  • Provide support for general corporate matters as related to the company business.
  • Maintain a regular liaison with all areas of the company business, and in particular the Commercial/Contracts teams.
  • Ad-hoc dealings with other departments for legal review/advice and negotiation with third parties.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professionally qualified solicitor with previous significant upstream experience gained within an industry role or the energy department of a respected private practice firm.
  • Previous experience in an in-house role would be preferred.
  • LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice.

Required Competencies:

  • Proven business, commercial and legal skills gained in a progressive business environment.
  • Strong commercial drafting skills and knowledge of contractual documentation pertaining to the upstream E&P business.
  • Superior interpersonal and influencing skills required to develop close and effective relationships with asset sellers, partners and contractors.

  • Has the confidence to work with a large degree of autonomy, with the ability to seek input from Management when required.
