LawCare, a charity that provides counselling support and advice to members of the legal profession, has seen a 10% increase in the number of calls for help last year, reports the Law Gazette.
The Scottish Law Commission is currently seeking a small number of law graduates for fixed-term appointments of one year, to work as legal assistants on current and planned law reform projects. Appointments will start in September 2010.

Archibald Campbell and Harley has announced the resignation of Rory Milne from the partnership effective as of 31st January 2010. After more than 22 years with the firm in the commercial property team, Rory is leaving to commence practice on his own account.
New oil & gas upstream appointment

WJM appoints two new partners
WJM has appointed two new partners, Andy McFarlane and Fraser Gillies. Both appointments take effect from 1st February. Andy is taking over as Head of the WJM Energy Team in place of David Bone, who is leaving the firm for pastures new. The new team will have four partners, including Fraser who will also lead the firm’s growth in planning law and continue to develop a broad practice in commercial dispute resolution. Suspects seek help from police
Two men from North Caroline inexplicably decided to phone the police for help after their car got a flat tyre, despite the fact that, only four hours earlier, they were allegedly involved in a convenience store robbery, reports the Charlotte Observer. Unfortunately for them, the police who came to their assistance recognised them from video footage of the robbery, and they were promptly arrested.
